Meet three-year-old Moses. Last January, he joined the Mwaiwathu Community-Based Childcare Center (CBCC) in Machinga, Eastern Malawi. He was malnourished and very ill. Lim from Singapore was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when he was only one month old. Because his parents lacked the funds to provide Lim with the treatment he needed, he grew slowly and lacked the energy little boys his age have. Najwa was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when she was six years old. Her father tried everything to earn enough money to help his daughter, but was unable to do so. Then he heard about the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation and the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund. Najwa’s parents are very thankful for the donations that made her recovery possible.
On average, the Fund saves more than one child’s life every day of the year. In 2012, there were 440 other children, like Najwa, who received lifesaving surgery through the Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund.
Earlier this month, a group of Nu Skin leaders had the privilege to visit the School of Agriculture for Family Independence (SAFI) and experienced firsthand the efforts the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation is putting forward to change people’s lives.
During the trip, those attending visited local orphanages and the SAFI facilities and meeting the great families who were nearing graduation from the school.
On Thursday, August 16, 2013, twenty nine families graduated from SAFI and now have the skills and education to be self-sufficient in providing for their families, and completely enhancing their lives.
Earlier this month, a group from Nu Skin North Asia, consisting of Team Elites, Nu Skin employees and journalists from Korea and Japan, spent five days in Malawi for a firsthand look at the impact the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation, and the company’s Nourish the Children Initiative are having on the country and its people.

The Pumlanga Village of Halamahera Island, Indonesia, will soon benefit from a brand new community center thanks to donations from the Nu Skin Force for good Foundation and Seacology. In response, island residents have agreed to support a new plan to protect nearly 5,000 acres of rainforest for the next 25 years.
The center will be mainly used for cultural gatherings, but it will also function as an education center for village children, since there are no schools on this remote island.

Corrective Heart Surgery Helps Save Lives in Thailand

The Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund provides life-saving corrective heart surgeries for underprivileged children suffering from congenital heart disease. The Fund steps in and provides surgeries for children whose families cannot afford the operation. Here is an update on one of the children the fund saved 10 years ago.
When Chanida Limpanaporn was born in 2002, doctors found that she had a rare and serious heart defect in which the two main arteries leaving the heart were reversed. Her parents were frightened when their beautiful daughter turned blue due to a lack of oxygen.
