What is the 6S Quality Process?
The key to creating superior products for you lies in the meticulous details that we put into every step, from raw materials to remarkable results. That’s where our 6S Quality Process comes in. This process, a Nu Skin original, involves rigorous, highly integrated activities and includes multiple layers of scientific testing and attention to detail.
Let’s Get To Know Each S
Selection
To be considered for use in our products, materials pass criteria for effectiveness, suitability for formulation, and safety. We work with experts and raw material suppliers around the world to gather both historical and new scientific insights about the unique ingredients in our products.
Sourcing
Once we’ve selected an ingredient, we focus on finding the best source for it—one that can guarantee availability, quality, and concentration of the ingredient. For example, as part of our sustainability initiative, we evaluate our ingredient sources and use programs like The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to support responsibly sourced palm oil.
Specification
Once we have identified the ingredient and its source, we focus on getting the best parts of that ingredient. To do this, we have a set of safety and quality specifications that each ingredient must meet.
For example, Nutricentials® Here You Glow Exfoliating Toner has an acidic pH between 3.5-4.2. This helps maintain the formula balance with an effective 10% blend of hydroxy acids to leave skin visibly smoother and softer. This balance—getting the right amounts to deliver the best benefits to the skin without irritation—is particularly important when it comes to sensitive skin.
Standardization
Once we determine the specifications for each ingredient, we make sure we can deliver consistent quality through a consistent amount of that ingredient. We do that through Standardization. After all, better ingredients in the best doses mean the best results for you.
ReishiMax is a great example of Standardization in action. It contains a standardized reishi mushroom extract that incorporates cracked spores. This proprietary technology releases Reishi’s active ingredients, providing unique immune system benefits not found in other Reishi products.
Safety
Mom was right—in our experience, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. And Nu Skin adheres to high product safety standards by reviewing scientific literature and, most importantly, conducting extensive safety tests.
