Providing Higher Education

Meet Mathius Mazengera, an accountant working in his office at N.D. Madalitso Vitameal Production Plant at Blessings Hospital in Lumbadzi.  The 24-year-old is the eldest of eight children who reside with their parents in the outskirts of Mgona Village, near Lilongwe City. Less than five years ago, Mathius only dreamed of becoming an accountant because his father could not afford his post-secondary education as a farmer selling vegetables from his Dimba garden.

However, Mathius learned about Educate the Children (ETC) Malawi program that offers scholarships funded by the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation. After passing the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), Mathius applied and was awarded an ETC scholarship in 2010. The scholarship paid for his studies at the Malawi College of Accountancy where he subsequently earned his diploma in financial accounting under The Public Accountants Examination Council of Malawi (PAEC) board in June 2013.

Mathius is currently working with Napoleon Dzombe as the accountant he had always dreamed about becoming. He is grateful for ETC and the scholarship provided by the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation and is paying it forward by helping his younger siblings pursue their higher education. ■
