The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation is funding Seacology’s creation of an intensive, hands-on environmental education program for youth called Junior Park Rangers of Roatán in Honduras. The program is directed by Roatán Marine Park (RPM), a grassroots, community-based NGO that runs a broad range of activities, including park patrols, educational activities and public awareness programs. Training will feature a variety of offerings like turtle and coral reef monitoring, recreational scuba diving and snorkeling.

The Jr. Park Rangers of Roatan is scheduled to begin this summer. The program will run for five to six weeks for 20 youth and will foster involvement in conservation efforts, prepare young people for careers in the tourism industry andfacilitate a deep sense of investment and pride that only comes from hands-on experience.

The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation continues to support Seacology and its efforts to reinforce children’s education in island communities. In addition to the creation of the Junior Park Rangers of Roatán, the Foundation also supported the renovation of an existing building in Pohnpei-Awak, Federated States of Micronesia, transforming it into a youth development and education center. This center offers tutoring and mentorship to children, in addition to sustainable livelihood training for young adults.■
