SOUTHEAST ASIA CHILDREN’S HEART FUND

The Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund provides funds for lifesaving corrective heart surgeries for underprivileged children suffering from congenital heart disease. Last year, more than 900 children received heart surgeries thanks to the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund. The Heart Fund has been able to continue its efforts through the generous donations from Nu Skin sales leaders, and since 1999 it has provided grants to help more than 9,600 children receive lifesaving heart surgeries. At the end of 2017, more than 14,000 sales leaders in Southeast Asia committed to donating 1 percent of their monthly commissions to the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund.

EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA (EB)

A rare inherited, blistering skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) affects all ethnic and racial groups. Since 1996, the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation has provided grants to the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF), which funds research at Stanford University School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology. Included in this funding is the company’s commitment to donate US$0.25 from the sale of each Epoch Glacial Marine Mud product to EBMRF as part of the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation. In addition, Korean sales leaders have donated US$130,000 to EB patients since 2005 and contributed US$207,000 to Gangnam Hospital since 2007.

A GIFT OF JOY.

When Mary Grace and Florante Baluyot discovered their 5-year-old daughter, Charice Joy, was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, they felt hopeless and didn’t know where to turn. Mary Grace was a cashier and Florante was unemployed. With only US$200 as their monthly income, Charice’s parents struggled to make ends meet and could not afford to pay for their daughter’s costly operation on their own. Thanks to a recommendation from a doctor associated with the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund, Florante and Mary Grace received the funding needed for Charice’s operation. Charice successfully underwent open heart surgery with a cardiopulmonary bypass last November. Now, no longer limited by her heart disease, Charice can begin attending school. Her parents are overcome with gratitude to the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund for making her operation and recovery possible and are looking forward to a brighter future together with Charice by their side.

Greater China Children’s Heart Fund making a difference in many lives

GREATER CHINA CHILDREN’S HEART FUND

Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the most common type of birth defect, and it is the leading cause of infant mortality in China. Approximately 216,000 infants with CHD are born every year; many of these children do not receive timely treatment due to the families’ inability to pay for the heart surgery. In 2017, the Greater China Children’s Heart Fund (GCCHF) provided more than 1,300 lifesaving surgeries. These children now enjoy happier, healthier and more active lives thanks to support from the Greater China Children’s Heart Fund. The Fund also provided 18,000 free screenings for children to help with preventative therapies.
