Reminders on Using Celebrities or Idols to Promote Products via social media.

January 12, 2024

Nu Skin is a pioneer in the direct selling industry no matter in terms of business, product, or culture. It is precisely because of this that the Company often invites social celebrities to participate in various public business and charity events. When many Brand Affiliates see their favourite idols, they actively participate in and support the events, and they will inevitably take some photos in the event and share on their personal social media accounts. Here comes the question, if I took the photos of "special guests" participating in the event, how can I share the photos on social media without stepping on a landmine? Let the compliance helper give you some advice!

Q: Can I share the photos released by the Company of the "special guests" participating in a public event and introduce the content of the event on social media?

A: If you just share the promotional photos released by the Company of the event and truthfully describe the content of event, introduce the invited guests, and simply share your own feelings about your participation, then the risk of stepping on a landmine is not high.

Q: Can I share on social media the photos that I took on the spot of the "special guest" participating in the event?

A: If you only truthfully describe the content of the event, introduce the invited guests, and simply share your own feelings about your participation, then the risk of stepping on a landmine is not high when you share on social media the photos taken by you of the "special guests" participating in the live event.

Q: In addition to the above matters, is there anything else that I need to pay special attention to?

A: All Brand Affiliates please pay special attention to the following three reminders:

1. Do not use videos, music and pictures owned or produced by others without authorization.

2. Do not use photos of third party to promote your business or products without authorization.

3. Do not claim that someone uses the product or endorse the product without any authorization.

Please be reminded that without prior authorization and consent, claiming that someone uses the product, claiming someone endorses the product, or linking the photos of idols and celebrities with the products or businesses you recommend, using others’ portraits casually in the above ways may violate laws (such as defamation), and you may even be at risk of paying out a high settlement amount and risking your business!!!
