Nu Skin Expands Engineering Team for Ongoing Innovation

Nu Skin engineer work stations in the engineer lab

These are exciting times for the Nu Skin Research and Development (R&D) team. Over the last couple of years, our science team has expanded to include a variety of engineers of diverse disciplines, and our very own engineering lab. When looking at the global trend of beauty devices, the need for this expansion is made clear. When asked, 70% of women who were interviewed said they would like to own a new beauty device.1 It is also clear that beauty devices are transforming the skin care market, especially in China, Europe, and the United States.1 Years ago, Nu Skin R&D recognized this trend and its potential in the skin care industry, as well as the great opportunity it could bring our sales leaders. According to a 2013 article in Cosmetics and Toiletries, 50% of beauty device sales are coming from network marketing channels1, which perfectly fits into our business model.

EXPANDING OUR LINE OF PREMIUM BEAUTY DEVICES

Nu Skin R&D has established itself as a leader in quality personal care and anti-aging products, and are excited to build upon our existing line of premium beauty devices. Over the past couple years, our engineers have spearheaded the development of the ageLOC Me device and the ageLOC LumiSpa. Through their commitment to innovation and dedicated labor, they created devices that have made a real impact in the lives of our sales leaders and customers. Our engineers have taken our vision for personalized skin care and made it a reality by creating a time-saving technology that fits into a well-established regimen.

Nu Skin engineering tools that aid in the design of new beauty products in the engineer lab.

Nu Skin R&D recently opened its very own engineering lab allowing our engineers to reach their full development potential. This new lab has provided the needed space to create innovative products and enabled our engineers to work together to overcome challenges that may arise in the development of new products.

Using Advanced Tools for Improved Design Functionality

When developing new products, our team of engineers use many tools to help aid them in design and functionality. One of these tools is the 3D printer that allows our engineers to print functional models of their designs to test the design for flaws, imperfections, or to simply see the functionality of their design. Having this 3D printer also allows them to quickly print a scaled model that is available within hours.

Another tool that is used frequently by our engineers to assist in the development of new products is the Intron Torsion Tester. This tool allows testing of various components for the amount of rotation and force it takes to move them. This device played a key role in development of the ageLOC LumiSpa, and will play a key role in the development and creation of future devices. We have also included a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Mill in our lab that allows our electrical engineers to create circuit boards to see if their designs function as intended. In addition to these more advanced tools, there are a myriad of everyday tools including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, battery simulators, screwdrivers, and much more.

With several new additions to our engineering team as well as our engineering lab, our Nu Skin R&D team is excited to expand our offering to our sales leaders and customers, and look forward to the future development of functional, anti-aging devices.
