Officially named Yayasan Jantung Anak Indonesia (YJAI) since 2002, the organization was established by the parents of children suffering from heart diseases who were once the patients at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). Together with a team of RSCM’s doctors as technical advisor, the organization seeks help to fund the patients from poor family that need funds for their medical treatment, including surgery.

The Partnership between Nu Skin Malaysia and IJN Foundation
In June 2008, the Nu Skin Malaysia-IJN Foundation Heart Surgery Project for Children was formed with the aim of funding corrective heart surgeries of needy children from impoverished families. Nu Skin Malaysia’s commitment is to aid 1 child per quarter, by contributing up to a maximum of RM25,000 per corrective heart surgery, starting with an initial sponsorship of RM100,000 to IJN Foundation.

Funding for this project comes from grants from Nu Skin’s Force for Good Foundation as well as sale of Force For Good premiums, and contributions from employees and distributors of Nu Skin Malaysia.

PHILIPPINES

Through the Southeast Asia Children's Heart Fund, Nu Skin Enterprises Philippines was able to sponsor the purchase of a Two-Dimensional (2-D Echo) Echocardiogram Machine in 2010 for the Philippine General Hospital. The machine now services the patients of the Department of Pediatric Cardiology who used to borrow the machine used by the adult cardiology ward.

Also in 2010, SEA CHF and NSEPH donated two million pesos to Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation. The donation and funds raised by NSEPH distributors has helped sponsor the heart surgeries of 38 children under the foundation. These patients, belonging to the poor sector of society, have long been waiting for a sponsor for their heart operations.

The Partnership Between Nu Skin Philippines and CHILD Foundation

Nu Skin Philippines has formed a partnership with Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation in 2008 to help raise funds and alleviate the growing number of indigent pediatric patients in need of corrective heart surgery.

In 2010 alone, Nu Skin Philippines was able to sponsor the heart operation of 38 children.  In addition to the help coming from the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund, various fundraising efforts such as the selling of Force For Good commemorative items, benefit lunches sponsored by distributors, and the Nu Skin Philippines employees’ donate a leave program, has helped raise funds to support the worthy cause.

CHILD Foundation

Experiencing first hand the ever increasing financial need of the Department of Pediatrics in taking care of the pediatric patients of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), a dynamic group of senior consultants and alumni of the Department of Pediatrics and University of the Philippines College of Medicine banded together and established the Child Health in Life and Development (CHILD) Foundation, Inc. in 1988. They have heard and seen patients admitted in their units who expired because of severity of disease condition coupled with dearth of resources to procure needed medicines and to undergo needed procedures. This was compounded by increasing number of pediatric patients brought to PGH for much needed tertiary care.
