When Chee Wee and Adeline began their Nu Skin journey, the couple faced insurmountable challenges. However, after years of perseverance, continuous learning and coaching from their uplines, Chee Wee and Adeline rose to be recognised as one of Nu Skin Enterprises’ elite leaders. They fought hard, but for the husband-and-wife team, joining the business was the best decision they had ever made.
Chee Wee was fresh out of serving full-time National Service while Adeline had just moved from Indonesia to Singapore when they met their uplines, Circle of Excellence I and 4 Stars Team Elite members Jonathan Chong and Evelyn Lai. “I had no prior work experience while my wife had zero network when we started to use and share the products and build the business. Furthermore, we had no knowledge about direct selling, and I was an extremely shy and introverted person who disliked talking to strangers,” Chee Wee confessed. “We didn’t think we’d make it in the business.” But they did. And they attribute their achievements largely to an open mind and willingness to be led by their uplines and work as a team.
“We have a 100% belief in Nu Skin and its products, but we didn’t know how to build the business. So, we followed the footsteps of our leaders and cooperated with them to learn everything we could about health supplements and personal care, compensation plan, networking, and leadership,” Adeline shared. Despite having only five friends when she first arrived in Singapore, the Indonesian-born former fashion designer now manages an extensive network of local and international business partners.
So, what did the couple do to start building their network from ground zero? “We went through the hard way of cold calling and conducting surveys. But it is through a genuine and sincere desire to help people look and feel younger and achieve their goals that allowed us to partner so many of our downlines,” Chee Wee disclosed. One of the greatest rewards for him in the Nu Skin business was overcoming his shyness and gaining confidence in engaging total strangers. “Many success stories have helped us to look at the bigger picture and put others before ourselves.”
Being recognised as Team Elite members is a high point in their Nu Skin career but for the leaders in their late twenties, it is only the beginning of greater things to come. Adeline and Chee Wee are very grateful to their uplines for their guidance and advice. The couple is also grateful for their supportive families and look forward to helping more downlines to reach their goals in Nu Skin!
