Marlon & Pen Ilagan

"Choose an opportunity where in you can work in fast forward, so that you can live your life in slow motion, not the other way around”

Marlon started the business while he was about to graduate from college. He was taking up Chemistry in the Ateneo de Manila University. His close friend and college buddy, Toby invited him to see the Nu Skin business. Marlon saw that the business can give him extra income to support his school expenses, and leisure activities.

He borrowed the money to buy the products, and worked hard part time. He found out that Nu Skin is a very good source of extra income, and is a productive way to invest his time in. When he graduated from college, Marlon discovered that a career in doing the Nu Skin business can surpass all the other compensation packages from the other top multinationals. Surely there are many people in the direct selling world that are doing their businesses half-heartedly in their spare time. But Marlon chose to do Nu Skin professionally, and full time. Surely there were many challenges at first, especially for a nerdy Chemistry major to be venturing into the field of business and leadership. But he got incredible support from the company, his mentors, and team. Also, he did the Nu Skin business the way that his mentor Daniel taught him, “All in, all out, all the time, big time.”

Pen also started the business at a very young age. She was taking up a business course in San Beda College when she saw the Nu Skin opportunity. When she saw the high quality unique products of Nu Skin, she immediately signed up. Any business that offers high quality products at very fair prices is a business worth getting into. When she experienced a family tragedy that left her in a financial dilemma that made it difficult for her to continue school, it was her income in the business that allowed her to survive, and continue her lifestyle.

Marlon and Pen got married in 2009. They started doing the business seriously as a team after that. It was not just for the money anymore. They did it to become the best providers, and the best parents for their children. They achieved the prestigious Team Elite title this 2015. They are the youngest to achieve it in the country at ages 31 and 26 respectively. For their family, money is not a problem anymore.

Right now they have three wonderful children, Miko, Maki, and Mika. They are able enjoy the rare luxury of driving their kids to school, and picking up their kids from school, everyday. They can give their family what is best of them as parents, not what is left of them. Marlon and Pen are able to give their kids both quantity and quality time.

Because of the Nu Skin business, this couple travels almost every quarter outside the country. Pen loves to travel. Even though Marlon loves to stay at home playing video and board games, he spends lots of quality time bonding with Pen travelling the beautiful places around the world. Thanks to the Nu Skin business, they possess both the money and time to do it.

When asked the question, “How do you do it?”, Marlon attributes his success in these five guidelines.

First, choose the right opportunity. Choose an opportunity where in you can work in fast forward, so that you can live your life in slow motion, not the other way around.

Second, choose the right company. The company must be very stable. The company must have an excellent track record. It also must also possess a high level of integrity. Sadly in the Philippines there are lots of scams, that people sometimes have trouble finding the right one. It was a good thing the Marlon used his common sense in choosing Nu Skin when he found out that it was a publicly listed company in the New York Stock Exchange.

Third, make a one time decision to succeed. Never look back, never ever quit, and never forget the reason why you want to become successful.

Fourth, be coachable. One must be very willing to learn. One must be very willing to change. One must be very willing to listen to their successful mentors.

And lastly, work hard. Nothing great ever came easy. One must be prepared to do what it takes to become successful. Marlon and Pen are ordinary young couple who have an extraordinary life. They achieved this milestone because of their commitment, and dedication to their Nu Skin business. They would like to extend their deepest gratitude to their mentors, Toby Tangsoc, Daniel Laogan, Liza Magtibay, Dennis & Angeline Ong, and Sandy Martinez. They believe that if they can do it, with the

right attitude, right company, right work ethics, anybody can do it also.
