Prior to his involvement in Nu Skin, Daniel took up a business degree at the Ateneo De Manila University. The eldest of 4 siblings, he was expected to handle the family business which is involved in real estate and financing services upon graduation. But growing up, he saw the headaches and complexities of running a traditional business which often meant long hours, huge operating expenses and time away from the family. “I saw my parents build our family businesses and it wasn’t easy, they gave up a lot of things in order for the business to succeed.”
In March of 2003, Nu Skin was introduced to Daniel through a friend. Initially he was skeptical of it but after more research and exposure, he began to see the business in a very different perspective. “I was impressed by the educational background and corporate success of people doing Nu Skin prior to them being involved, which shows that Nu Skin attracts high caliber individuals.” Aside from the people doing the business, Daniel was also impressed by the stability and credentials of the company. But the main reason that finally made him decide to pursue the business was the income that the business could provide for him, minus the headache and heartache of managing a huge enterprise.
As they say, smooth seas never produced a skilled sailor. Daniel also had his fair share of challenges as he pursued the path to entrepreneurship. “When you are in business, not everyone will buy or like your idea, but the most important thing is for you to believe in yourself, because if you don’t, no one else will.” He says, “I always like to think that our disappointments are God’s appointments for us in our life.” To help him overcome trials and challenges in the business, Daniel believes in having a biblical and Godly perspective in handling difficult people and circumstances, seeing that problems and challenges are necessary to develop ourselves and to mold our character to Christlikeness.
“Nu Skin is really a unique business where the dynamics of personal excellence is as important as helping the people around you become better, because the only way that you can go up in this business is to lift others up with you. This empowering platform of helping others transform their lives is one aspect of the business that Daniel is truly passionate about. “Winning without helping others win, is not winning at all. We are only as good as the people we help.”
Being a part of the Nu Skin opportunity has been rewarding for Daniel. He has been blessed with material and financial blessings but the greatest blessing that for him is the freedom the business has given him to put God and his family first without compromising his income. Daniel believes in living a life of modelling the right values to his family, putting relationship with them at priority and being intentional; all of these things you cannot do if you do not spend time with them. Because of the rewarding income platform of the business, Daniel spends a lot of time with his family travelling and mentoring a group of young men and women to follow Jesus.
Looking back, the journey to Presidential Director was a very colorful one for Daniel. It has allowed him to develop as a leader and inspire others to do the same. The Nu Skin business as a force for good is ideal for people like him who want to make a difference to others. “I always believe that we are here to make an impact in the lives of people.” His parents’ work ethic and passion in business inspired Daniel to reach for greater heights and now he aims to inspire the next generation of leaders in his organization to do the same. “My parents taught me to put in the effort and be committed to your craft. I want to instill those old school values that are somewhat lost in translation in the digital age of instant everything, but with a Biblical perspective.
