My Success Trip Story
Picture this … the big Success Trip announcement goes live ‘We're going to Shanghai’ and immediately my phone rings “Mum, we need to do this one!” By we, of course, she meant me qualifying for it for us – so I can take her as my guest!
That moment made me chuckle, but it also meant so much as failure wasn't an option. Shanghai has been on my dream board for about 10 years without me really realising it. I’ve always said I wanted to visit every Disney park in the world with her, so this trip felt like far more than a destination announcement, it was a huge sign from the universe to put what I was learning into intentional motion.
I missed out on my ‘We Go Home Trip’ after qualifying because of travel restrictions at the time, and instead I had to watch each day, like an online stalker, seeing everything I was missing. It was tough at the time, but it taught me one of the biggest lessons of all: sometimes the greatest reward is not the trip itself, but the growth, resilience, and determination you build on the way there.
Some Success Trips I set my intention but didn’t quite make it. Looking back now, I can see that although the ambition was there, the leadership depth and structure within the team were still developing. After studying The 5 Levels of Leadership, I’ve been able to reflect on what I could have done differently. Real leadership is not just about driving results in the moment, it is about developing people, creating stability, and building something that continues to grow beyond you.
Over the years I've seen so many reach milestones quickly, earn Success Trips and the next moment they are gone. So I never compare because without strong foundations, leadership, and stability, success can be hard to sustain. Lasting success is built step by step, with patience, growth, and a vision that goes beyond one moment or one trip.
That lesson has been invaluable. I now understand that the first focus must always be building a strong customer-based business, creating consistency, and helping others grow into confident leaders themselves. When those foundations are in place, working towards the bigger milestones naturally becomes possible.
This continuing qualification for Shanghai has stretched me in the best possible way. It has shown me the power of creating a stable business, stepping up as a leader, and truly understanding that success is never built alone, it's a team effort. Your team plays a massive role in a leaders Success Trip qualification and without them stepping up and developing their business, their support and encouragement, Success Trips would not be possible.
What makes this business and company so special is that your mentors are never far away. They celebrate your wins as if they were their own, guide you when you need perspective, and challenge you to grow into the next version of yourself. That kind of support is incredibly powerful, and a reminder that success here is built through people, connection, and never having to do the journey alone.
And as if Shanghai was not exciting enough, there is now one more beautiful reason this trip means so much, my daughter is expecting a baby. I hope to extend the trip and continue with a family holiday, so that means I may be lucky enough to get to take my brand new grandchild to their very first Disney parks in the world where most can only dream of!
For anyone dreaming of qualifying for a Success Trip, my message is simple: focus on the foundations, grow your leadership, stay consistent, and keep going with the hard work. These trips are about so much more than travel, they are about who you become, what you create, and the memories waiting for you on the other side of persistence.
