TOUCH Project

Take one Ukrainian Child's Hand

The TOUCH Project, located in Uzhgorod, Ukraine, is a sponsorship programme for orphans or children who have a disability. The project was created in February 2001 thanks to the international sister cities programme between Corvallis, Oregon in the United States and Uzhgorod.

The TOUCH Project has grown to include five sponsorship programmes, which support over 300 Ukrainian children including:

  1. Chaslivtsi Orphanage (120 children) is a boarding school for children aged 7-17, who have been abandoned or orphaned. Most of the children reside at the orphanage on a fulltime basis.
  2. The School #14 programme (110 children) is a very poor Roma school, which is located close to Uzhgorod Roma camp.  The TOUCH project donated school supplies to each child, music instruments to the school, gave financial help for indoor toilets and has been paying for every breakfast (milk and rolls) since April 2006.
  3. Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Disabilities (60 children) includes children aged 3 to 18 with various physical and/or mental disabilities (Down's syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, autism, etc.) who usually live with a family member and come to the centre for schooling, physical therapy, socialisation and professional training.
  4. New Family organisation (180 children) includes children whose parents are deceased, deprived of their parental rights, in prison or children being cared for by a grandparent. The programme provides a centre where children can receive a hot meal,  study, bathe, do laundry or learn singing, dancing, art, sewing, languages and computer.
  5. The vocational training programme (20 graduates) is for older children who graduated from an orphanage.  TOUCH provides them with vocational training/job skills.

Nu Skin Europe has supported TOUCH through donations from the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation┬« as well as locally collected donations. Between 2001 and 2008, the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation┬« financed new mattresses, beds, a laundry facility, a playground and an outdoor sport area at the Chaslivtsi orphanage and the rebuild of the dining room at School #14.
