Women's Health

What is PMS?
The constant fluctuation in hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone, during the menstrual cycle creates a condition known as Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).

Why does this product contain soy isoflavones?
Soybeans naturally contain isoflavones, which are potent phytoestrogens. The two predominant isoflavones in soybeans are genistein and daidzein. Genistein is the most well-researched phytoestrogen available on the market, with a number of clinical studies substantiating its health benefits in women.

How is genistein standardized in Estera"?
Isoflavones are found naturally in soy products. However, the level of isoflavones in soy products varies based on harvesting, manufacturing, and preparation methods. Therefore, to provide a consistent intake of phytoestrogens in your daily diet, Pharmanex provides a proprietary standardized 64% isoflavone extract with 40% genistein. Soy products currently on the market are only standardized to 40% isoflavones or less. While extracts higher than 64% are rare, this high concentration of genistein can disrupt soys natural isoflavone ratio.

Marine Omega

What Makes This Product Unique?

  • First omega-3 with krill oil supplement blend on the market
  • Delivers EPA and DHA from two sources: ultra pure fish oil and krill oil
  • Contains unique krill oil that provides multiple benefits
  • Ultra-pure source of fresh fish oil tested free of toxins, pollutants, and heavy metals
  • Includes vanilla infused soft gels and natural lemon oil for a pleasant aroma and minimal fishy flavor

  • Who Should Use This Product?
MarineOmega is for all individuals seeking the anti-aging benefits of omega-3 fatty acids in optimal levels. Adults and children who do not consume five to six servings of fish each week, or who choose to avoid the risk of toxins and heavy metals common to fish, should take MarineOmega.

What are the key ingredients in MarineOmega?
Each daily dose of MarineOmega provides 200 mg of Neptune Krill Oil," an excellent source of EPA, DHA, and phospholipids. MarineOmega also provides 4000 mg of marine lipid concentrate, which contains 600 mg EPA, 400 mg DHA, and 200 mg other omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, 20 IU natural vitamin E in the form of mixed tocopherols is added as an antioxidant, and lemon and vanilla are used to impart a pleasant odor.

    What are EPA and DHA?
Both EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are omega-3 fatty acids scientifically classified as nutrients essential to human nutrition. EPA and DHA are vital to the body because they are building blocks for other fatty acids needed by the body, and many types of cells and tissues are comprised of these nutrients (for example, they are abundant in brain and retinal tissue).

    Is MarineOmega scientifically substantiated?
Scientific studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids from fish help support cardiovascular health, immune response, anti-inflammatory function, brain function, joint function and mobility, and healthy skin conditions. Studies have also shown that in recent years people are consuming foods that result in a higher intake of omega-6 fatty acids, and a lower intake of omega-3 fatty acids.*

    Is MarineOmega safe?
MarineOmega is safe at the recommend dosages. Under the strict Pharmanex® 6S Quality Guarantee for efficacy and safety, Pharmanex sources fish and krill that are free of toxins, contaminants, or heavy metals. People on high-dose aspirin therapy, people taking anticoagulation drugs and people on any other prescription medication should consult a physician before taking this or any other dietary supplements. Discontinue use of this product two weeks prior to surgery.

What is the difference between MarineOmega and Optimum Omega?
MarineOmega includes krill oil for several additional benefits, including advanced EPA and DHA benefits targeting brain function. MarineOmega also has double the fish oil soft gels per bottle compared to Optimum Omega.

Can I get all of the omega-3s that I need in my diet alone?
People who eat fish every day can get most of the omega-3s that they need. However, with the growing concern over dioxins and pollutants, many experts recommend limiting fish intake to once per week for certain types of fish. Supplementation with fish oil is a convenient way to add omega-3 fatty acids into the daily diet.

    Cholestin

What is the mechanism of action of the new Cholestin®?
Cardiovascular health factors include: 1) maintenance of desirablelevels of lipoprotein structural components (such as apoB, an LDL precursor, triglycerides, and cholesterol itself); 2) antioxidant protection.

What is the source of each ingredient in new the Cholestin®? Citrus polymethoxylated flavonoids are extracted from the orange peels. Tocotrienols are derived from red palm fruit extract. EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids sourced from the purest cold water fish available. Geraniol (a compound found naturally in many plants and fruits) is delivered in a nature-identical form.

Will I notice any significant changes in cholesterol levels while transitioning onto the new Cholestin®?
In a small segment of individuals, cholesterol levels may temporarily increase when switching from Cholestin® Red Yeast Rice (RYR) to new Cholestin®. This is likely due to the different mechanisms of action of the products. Because of these differences, the time to achieve significant results will vary; Cholestin RYR has been shown in clinical studies to be effective within four to eight weeks, while research on the ingredients in the new Cholestin show results in eight to twelve weeks of use.

New Cholestin® is formulated to help maintain existing normal cholesterol levels. Just like Cholestin RYR, the new version of Cholestin is clinically proven. A review of clinical studies indicates that ingredients provided by new Cholestin may reduce total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol and increases HDL (good) cholesterol levels in 8 to 12 weeks.1 When switching products, please allow at least eight to twelve weeks to test for the benefits of new Cholestin.

Another important factor to consider is fluctuations in cholesterol measurements. A single blood test cannot always be representative of an actual serum level. Serum cholesterol levels normally undergo substantial physiological fluctuations related to time of day, gender, stress, and season. Repeated cholesterol measurements on the same individual have shown that cholesterol levels can fluctuate as much as 30 points or more throughout the day. When measuring cholesterol levels, make sure it is at the same time of day and with the same testing procedures. The most accurate cholesterol levels are taken after a 12 hour fast and preferably in the morning.

    Bone Formula

What is the role of calcium in Bone Formula?
Calcium has received a great deal of attention as a bone nutrient. As the most abundant bone mineral, calcium is the structural component in the form of calcium hydroxyapatite. Calcium supplementation can increase bone mineralization in children and young adults, and prevent bone loss in the elderly

What is the role of vitamin D in Bone Formula?
The role of vitamin D in calcium and bone metabolism is well established. There are a number of clinical trials documenting the benefits of supplemental vitamin D for maintaining normal bone health and calcium metabolism, especially in the elderly. Although vitamin D is produced in the skin upon sunlight exposure, marginal vitamin D status is common especially in the elderly living in the northern latitudes of the U.S. and Canada. As a result, vitamin D supplementation from multivitamins in the amount of 400 IU daily is recommended.

What is the role of magnesium in Bone Formula?
Magnesium is the second most abundant bone mineral and appears to be as equally important for bone health as calcium, especially as marginal or inadequate magnesium intake is a significant concern in the U.S. Magnesium is involved in the regulation of calcium transport and metabolism, and as such assumes a key role in bone formation. The 1996 USDA Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) showed that approximately three out of four adult women and two out of three adult men do not meet the RDA for magnesium.

If I am taking LifePak®, LifePak Women,® or LifePak Prime® Complex, do I need to take Bone Formula as well?
If you are taking LifePak Women® or LifePak Prime® Complex and are consuming 3-4 servings of dairy products daily, you do not need to take Bone Formula. If you do not consume adequate dairy products or are concerned with bone health, you should add Bone Formula to your daily supplement routine. Bone Formula and LifePak® meet the recommendation of the World Health Organization by providing 1000 mg of calcium when taken together.

    Is Bone Formula safe?
Bone Formula is safe and there are no known adverse reactions when taken at the recommended dosage.

    Eye Formula

What ingredients does Eye Formula provide?
Eye Formula contains a proprietary blend of the potent antioxidant vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, lutein, alpha-lipoic acid, zinc, and selenium. In addition, Eye Formula provides taurine, ginkgo biloba extract, bilberry, and turmeric root.

Is there a correlation between the level of carotenoids in the eye and skin?
Studies have shown that the Pharmanex® Biophotonic Scanner technology measures 18 carotenoids in the skin. The 8 most important carotenoids are lycopene, beta-carotene, phytoene, phytofulene, alpha-carotene, lutein, beta-cryptoxanthin, and zeaxanthin. Studies have also shown that lutein (and zeaxanthin) are some of the primary components of the retina and macula areas of the eye. If someones diet contains a variety of fruits and vegetables that are rich in these carotenoid antioxidants, the level of antioxidants found in the skin would most likely correlate with the level of antioxidants found in the eye.

How are ginkgo biloba and turmeric root standardized? Ginkgo biloba extract is standardized to 27% gingko flavone glycosides and 7% terpene lactones, the highest available actives. Turmeric root is standardized to 95% curcumin.

    Is Eye Formula safe?
Eye Formula is safe and well tolerated at the recommended adult dosage.

Why does Eye Formula only contain 5 mg of lutein?
The dose of lutein in Eye Formula is based on a number of studies suggesting the highest degree of eye protection is achieved at dietary lutein intakes of about 57 mg/day. The Harvard study mentions the greatest protection at 5.8 >mg/day (Seddon et al., JAMA 1994). Like all Pharmanex® Solutions" products, Eye Formula should be taken with LifePak.® This way, the combination delivers 7 mg of lutein (5 mg from Eye Formula and 2 mg from LifePak®).
