What is Copyright?
In general, copyright is the right given to the owner of an original work. The owner has the exclusive right to reproduce, publish, perform, communicate and adapt his work. The copyright enables the owner to control the commercial exploitation of his work.
What is covered by Copyright?
Copyright generally covers any original expressions of ideas, and in different formats, such as cartoons, books, music, videos, photographs, movies, audiotapes, written works, drawings, artworks, speeches and slides.
What is Copyright Infringement?
Copyright infringement occurs when an individual or party uses, copies, or distributes a copyrighted work without the proper permission of the copyright owner or holder. Copyright owner or holder may take civil actions against the person who infringed his copyright. In some jurisdictions, criminal sanctions may be imposed against the infringer.
How to Prevent Copyright Infringement?
- Refrain from using popular music and songs, if you have no permission from the concerned record label company. Seek permission from the relevant authorities or parties before using music or songs during Nu Skin meetings and events.
- Refrain from downloading and taking materials such as videos and images from websites, magazines and other publications where you are not authorized to do so. Refrain from using photographs and images of celebrities (including but not limited to politicians, actors/actresses, musicians and sportspersons) in your sharing or presentations, where you are not authorized to do so.
- Always ask for consent to use photographs of your business partners and anyone else, whose photographs you intend to use for Nu Skin sharing or presentations.
