Run for Malawi FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What device do I need to participate?
You have the choice out of three different devices.

  • Nike+ Sensor (works with 2nd or 3rd Generation iPod Touch, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4)
  • Nike+ iPod Sport kit (works with the iPod Nano)
  • Nike+ Running Sportband (if you have none of the iPod or iPhone models above)

You can buy them at your local sport store or online at www.nikeplus.com
For more information on how Nike+ works and about the different devices, please click here.

I bought the Nike+ device, now how do I get started?
Please follow the instructions in the user manual or consult the Nike+ Support pages.
After you have created your account on www.nikeplus.com and linked your device to it, simply join the Run for Malawi Challenge.

Do I need a Nike running shoe?
No, you can use any type of shoe with laces. Nike shoes have a space in the sole where the sensor can be put. With your purchase of the Nike+ device at the Nu Skin® ExtraOrdinary Convention, you received a Force For Good branded sensor pouch to put your sensor in, which can be attached to the laces of any running shoes.

How do I get a sensor pouch if I didn’t buy my Nike+ system at the Nu Skin® ExtraOrdinary Convention?
The Force for Good branded sensor pouch was made exclusively available at the Nu Skin® ExtraOrdinary Convention.  However, you can ask for a sensor pouch at your local sports store or search for one online.

I’ve never run before but would like to start. How do I get started?
The Nike+ website provides a “Walk to Run” training programme for you to develop your running skills safely. And don’t forget, even if you don’t run far, every kilometre counts.

Can I also walk?
Yes, it’s not the pace that matters, it’s the kilometres you run or walk in total.

The challenge has already started, can I still join?
Yes, you can join anytime until 16 January, 2011.

Can my friends or family members who are not Distributors join the challenge too?
Yes, the challenge is open to everyone.

Can I follow how the runners are doing or check which region is leading?
Yes, even if you did not sign up to participate, you can follow the challenge, click here.

What’s the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation® Build a Village Project?
The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation® Build a Village Project or the School of Agriculture for Family Independence (SAFI) is focused on helping the people of Malawi, Africa - one of the poorest countries in the world where the majority of people are farmers and live on less than US$1 a day.  The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation®, in partnership with local non-profit organisations and civic groups, initiated the project in 2006 to build the Mtalimanja Village Campus where a constant flow of 40-50 farmers and their families are being educated and trained to become economically independent and less vulnerable to drought.
