It starts at home: From Europe to the world

Being a force for good has always been a big part of who we are as a company. For us, that begins at home, with our many local community outreach initiatives that take place across Europe and Africa. Since 2020, we've been proud partners of the European Leukodystrophies Association (ELA), a non-profit organisation which works to assist and support families affected by these complex diseases, stimulate the development of research through their work with the ELA Foundation, and raise public awareness in Europe and further abroad.

Doing our part for ELA

The European Leukodystrophies Association support a fantastic cause, offering whatever assistance they can to the children and families who suffer from these rare, and currently incurable, diseases. One of their core goals is to change that by funding clinical trials around the world – something we were honoured to help with.
Each year, ELA sends out research proposals to the international scientific community, encouraging others to focus on this particular field. Currently, it has helped fund over 500 projects, with contributions amounting to 43.5 million euros*.

What are leukodystrophies?

Leukodystrophies are a group of rare genetic diseases that destroy the central nervous system in children and adults. Symptoms vary widely with each disease but can include a loss of motor function for many. These diseases affect between 20 and 40 new-born children in Europe each week. Sadly, the diagnosis of many leukodystrophies in early childhood is often associated with a life expectancy of only a few years2.

1. Donate through Alvarum

Alvarum is a crowdfunding platform that anyone can use to raise money for worthy causes. Whether you want to set a challenge, such as running a marathon, or simply contribute financially, it's easy to create a profile and do so or submit an anonymous donation.

We have already created a Nu Skin page, where employees and Brand Affiliates can donate directly to ELA. In some countries, these donations are tax-deductible, in which case the website will automatically provide you with a certificate.

Force for Good Day

Each year, Nu Skin employees worldwide dedicate a day of their time to volunteer for a good cause and/or raise funds for charity.
