EXPLORING DIFFERENT POSSIBILITIES IN LIFE IN THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE
Life is a like a journey. It may not go wrong if you follow a map, but you will surely meet a brighter and more beautiful scene if you are brave enough to walk a different path. Jason Tse, an in-depth travel enthusiast who holds the spirit of an adventurer, was determined to give up his promising career in North America and started afresh in Hong Kong to live his ideal life.
Jason has followed his parents to Canada since he was a child. Most people may think that immigration is the exclusive preserve of wealthy families. On the contrary, his family's financial condition was not as good as expected, and his life was once in a tight squeeze. “I remember the first dining table at home was just a paper box, and this memory had been deeply etched in my mind, and as a child I always reminded myself not to live like this again when I grow up.” Growing up without financial wealth did not pose negative influence on Jason, instead, it has become his driving force. He quickly adapted to the new life and was admitted into a local university majoring in engineering. After graduation, he became an engineer specializing in aircraft construction with prospects of a stable life. Perhaps there are adventurer’s genes in Jason’s body. After three years as an engineer, he decided to challenge himself to leave the mundane life. With an MBA degree, Jason went to HK and became a banker with prospects of a lucrative career in the finance industry. However, the lack of time flexibility caused Jason to reexamine his future, “At that time there were two very different options: first, returning to Canada and work as a wage earner; second, staying in Hong Kong to start a business.” He chose the latter because at that time, Hong Kong was a paradise for entrepreneurs to start a business for him. With vision and effort, he saw and grabbed the opportunities in the Mainland market and began his business in chemical raw materials trading. Six years has passed, and his business was becoming more difficult. But little did Jason know, her sister's decision to start a Nu Skin business has later become a major turning point in his life. There was a time when Jason often visited his sister workplace to show his support for her. He enjoyed listening to her and her partners introducing Nu Skin's platform to others. As his knowledge of Nu Skin deepened, he became interested in the platform and decided to start his Nu Skin business as well.
Jason recalled that when he first joined Nu Skin, people were still not familiar with the company and it was inevitable to have some unintelligible comments from people around him. Having been exposed to Western ways of thinking and education since childhood, Jason always kept an open mind. He believes that if he keeps going forward, he would be able to dig up the treasures. For Jason, running Nu Skin business is like traveling. It is all about learning as you go. He used to spend a year in London trying to march into the European market. With his big ambition and French speaking ability, he thought that Europe would be a big place full of opportunities that could take his business to the next level. Unfortunately, the social and cultural differences had prevented him from achieving the desired results, and for a time he doubted himself and wanted to give up his business in Nu Skin. Fortunately, the rational side of him won over his negative emotions of the moment, and after weighing the pros and cons of being a wage earner, doing traditional business and running Nu Skin business, he believed that Nu Skin was still the best and only choice. He got back his original vision and reasons for the Nu Skin business – to live his dreams, to help more partners stand on their own feet so they can live their dreams. After this incident, his resolve was strengthened, and he never thought of looking back.
UNDERSTANDING EQUESTRIAN FROM ENTREPRENEURSHIP
When asked about Jason's unforgettable experience with his partners, he said he was deeply moved by a partner, “she was a very optimistic girl from a rural village. It made it harder for her to find a chance to establish herself in society with her background, but Nu Skin's platform gave her the opportunity to pursue her dreams and do what she really liked.” This story also inspired Jason that as long as he tries, what seems impossible also have the opportunity to come true.
Jason is grateful to have met Nu Skin at an early stage and through continuous hard work and persistence, so that he can make his dream come true, live the life he wants and being able to cultivate an interest in equestrian sports. Starting from 2008, Jason has made a big leap from an amateur horse lover and then become Hong Kong's representative at the “The World Equestrian Games and World Endurance Championships”. He humbly thanks Nu Skin for this, “horseback riding actually has a lot in common with Nu Skin business. You can't communicate with a horse in words. You can only get him to where you want him to go by observing his emotions and state of mind. So does running Nu Skin business, you need to learn to influence and encourage your partners to keep your team moving and moving in the same direction.” He is also thankful to meet so many like-minded partners in Nu Skin. They always work together, play together and explore the world together, letting Jason continue to be the young spirit in his mother’s eyes.
