According to the figures from the non-profit organization Food Angel, over 3,300 tons of surplus food is discarded in Hong Kong every day. It is estimated that about 1/7 of the total Hong Kong population is living in poverty. Reducing food waste and alleviating hunger need our urgent response.
Adhering to the mission of “Full Participation” and “Force for Good” value, Nu Skin volunteer team joined Serve-a-thon Hong Kong 2018 and supported the Food Rescue & Assistance Program of Food Angel on 8 May, 2018 (Tuesday). Twenty volunteers turned intention into action through handling rescued raw vegetables and preparing hot meal boxes in the kitchen. Their contributions helped over 500 people in need in society, including deprived elders, children from low income families and disabilities. Furthermore, their efforts assisted in rescuing surplus food from going to the landfills.
