Boat Pose for Flat Tummy

Is your tummy a trouble area? Boat pose helps to define your waistline, while strengthening the core and toning your abdominals. The movement involving leg lifting also benefits the strength and shape of your legs.

Boat Pose – step by step:
1. Sit with the tip of your toes touching the yoga mat, legs closed and knees bent. Press your hands on the floor a little behind your hips. Keep your upper body straight and look forward.
2. Start with inhaling and exhaling. Slowly lift up your legs until your shins are parallel to the floor. Remain stable.
3. If able, lift up the shins higher and straighten them. Place your arms to the sides of your legs and stay for 3 to 5 breaths. Make sure your back doesn't arch and your whole body is stable.

If unable to lift up the legs or remain stable, use a towel as a support (use it like a strap around the soles of your feet to help straighten your legs. Besides, you can choose to use your hands to reach your toes or hold the ankles or the back of your feet. If your core is strong enough, just straighten your legs without holding them with your hands.

Reminder: please pay attention to your physical condition while exercising. Do not exceed your own physical capabilities.
