Ma Ya Li



Ma Ya Li studied computer science in university, and after finishing school started her own computer network company. She was later recruited by the Hong Kong-based Roctec Technology Limited for the position of general manager of the China market. In this position she oversaw four branch companies within the country. In 1997 she and her family immigrated to Canada. She wanted to contribute to her family’s lifestyle, but but wasn’t sure how she would be able to do it. When she was introduced to Nu Skin, she was “blown away” by the international business model Nu Skin offered.


For Ma Ya Li, her biggest challenge happened when she first began her business because no one believed in her or the opportunity. In 1998 Nu Skin was relatively unknown by people who had emigrated from mainland China. However, she was determined to be successful, and she gave herself three years to accomplish her goals. “I had already quit my job in China,” she says. “I decided to let go of the ‘good’ to reach for something better.”


As Ma Ya Li grew her organization of customers and distributors, she was inspired by the founders’ vitality and strong business values, and she learned that to be a good leader she had to share her own dreams and goals with her team to help them define—and pursue—their own. In addition to giving her and her family the benefits of Nu Skin’s products and opportunity, Ma Ya Li’s business has become a family affair since it now includes her daughter as well as her siblings and their children.


Ma Ya Li advises new distributors to persevere and remember that success comes from helping others. As she continues to build her business, she works hard to give people an opportunity that will improve their lives, and she helps to support people in need.

In 2014, the average monthly commission paid to U.S. Active Distributors who earned a commission check was $1,106.11, ($13,273.30 annualized).  In 2014 the average percentage of Active Distributors that earned commissions at the highest level (Blue Diamond) was 0.22 percent.
