Options for all skin types
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing with a face wash is the first step of your routine both morning and evening. Using the right products – those designed specifically for face care – a daily cleanse ensures that your pores are cleared, and debris is washed away, reinvigorating the skin to leave it with a healthy-looking glow and feeling smooth.
STEP 2: TONE
Using a toner after cleansing prepares your skin for the next steps of your routine by helping to maintain its optimal pH balance. In doing so, your skin is better able to absorb the serums and moisturisers that you’ll read about shortly. Depending on whether you select a toner for drier or oilier skin, you’ll often find this step helps to protect your skin’s natural moisture barrier or leaves you with a beautiful matte finish.
STEP 3: SERUM
Used both morning and night after you’ve cleansed and toned, serums – light, moisturising products – help to return a plump, radiant look to your skin. Overnight, they help your skin recharge as you sleep by promoting its natural nightly cell-renewal processes.
STEP 4: EYECARE
We all know the signs of tiredness: dark circles, heavy undereye bags and puffiness. That’s where your eyecare can help! Used after cleansing and toning, a good eyecare product can help keep this area looking bright, moisturised and protected, reducing the appearance of these signs of stress and tiredness.
STEP 5: DAY CREAM
Whether it’s night or day, moisturising is important, but your skin will have different needs depending on the time of day. That’s why we have different products! Either way, this is a crucial part of preventing the dehydration and dryness that exposure to pollutants can bring.
A good day cream should ideally also contain SPF protection to help keep your skin safe from the effects of excessive sun exposure as well as preparing it for the day ahead. Stick it on once you’ve cleansed, toned, applied your serum and taken care of your eyes, then carry on with your day!
STEP 6: NIGHT CREAM
At night, after repeating the first four steps, you’ll need to switch things up a bit. A good night cream can help your skin recover from the effects of the day, working together with its natural nightly processes to see you wake up with gorgeously soft, radiant skin the next morning.
A WEEKLY BONUS
We all deserve a little bit of ‘me-time’, so why not spend it on your skin? While they’re not something you need to do on a daily basis, following these extra steps a couple of times a week can help take your anti-pollution skincare routine to the next level with an added level of comfort and relaxation.
What is a skin refinisher, you ask? Simply put, it’s a helpful face peel that can be used to address specific concerns. They often contain active ingredients that give a little extra support to your daily routine and help you to achieve your ‘ideal’ skin tone – leaving your skin looking bright and even, while reducing the appearance of pores. We recommend adding this step to your routine once or twice a week after cleansing, but before using your toner.
Exfoliation is an important part of maintaining a smooth, bright complexion. With the right product, you can comfortably and gently clear our dead skin cells and other nasties, keeping your skin looking great. Go ahead and slide this into your routine a couple of times a week between your cleansing and toning steps.
Face masks have come a long way in recent years. Thankfully we no longer need to walk around the house with a face like Mrs Doubtfire, but the principle remains the same. Not only is taking a 10-minute break a great way to relax and recover your energy, it’s a good chance to hydrate your skin, helping it stay dewy and radiant, while reducing dryness and leaving it with a healthy glow. We recommend adding this step to your routine after cleansing once or twice a week. Go on, you deserve it!
