Joe Chang visits Mtalimanja Village

Mtalimanja is a revelation! What is an example of our difference, demonstrated.
Today, Napoleon Dzombe pointed out where he used to live as a child. His love of the land is evident and it is unbelievable what he has done in creating a sustainable business model for small Malawi farmers. His fellow farmers are taught to transition from subsistence farming to crop rotation farming and the results are remarkable. His second group of student farmers have improved their yields substantially from their allotted plot of land and I can sense their excitement when they graduate in a year’s time and return to their farm and employ the new farming techniques that they have learned at Mtalimanja.
Listening to Napoleon gives me pause to think we, willy-nilly, fertilize our lawn and yet these farmers can’t even afford a bag of fertilizer to feed their families.
