Keeping Your Skin Protected From The Sun

Keeping Your Skin Protected From The Sun

Did you know that 90 percent of visible aging is a result of sun damage?  This damage can happen when we are directly or indirectly exposed to the sun. To minimize the damage, we recommend a few things:

· Use a daily moisturizing sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15 to protect your facial skin from incidental sun exposure when going about daily activities.

· Use Sunright Body Block SPF 30 or SPF 35 for prolonged recreational activity to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

· The Sunright formula can also help offset damage resulting from sun exposure, apply 15 minutes after being in the sun.

· A full two-finger amount is recommended for the proper amount of sunscreen. Squeeze sunscreen the length of the middle and index finger and apply 15-30 minutes before sun exposure.

While sunscreen can protect the skin topically from the sun’s damage, there are many dietary nutrients that have also been found to minimize and protect against UV damage.  Eating foods rich in vitamin E can help protect the membranes of cells from oxidative damage resulting from UV exposure. In addition, higher dietary intake of vitamin C is correlated with younger appearance and better skin condition in older adults.
