At age 52, Buz is not your average dad. Buz Kroner is a Senior Olympic athlete — something he never thought possible. His dream to compete on a nationally competitive level was far surpassed when he qualified for the Senior Olympic games in 2004.

Not only did he qualify, but he placed among the Top 10 in all six of his events. Now Buz works out in the pool nearly every day to prepare for his swimming events. However, Buz says this feat could never have been accomplished with his former job—the president, CEO, and part owner of 18 fast-food restaurants. As the overseer of 500 teenage employees, he worked 80 to 100 hours a week.

Buz had everything except his freedom. Buz initially turned down the Nu Skin Enterprises opportunity presented by a neighbor. Still, he was fascinated with the idea of being able to work from home and joined the business part-time in 1990. His wife, Maureen, still wasn't quite convinced. Wanting to keep peace in the house, Buz asked his wife to do two things while he investigated the company. First, to be objective and keep an open mind during this research phase. And second, to use the products and teach him how to use them.

Maureen agreed and began using Nu Skin® products on a regular basis. It took only six to eight weeks before Maureen was convinced the products worked. So with Buz passionate about the business opportunity, and Maureen passionate about the Nu Skin® products, they joined hands and built their business together.

Buz says the "secret" to success is nothing unusual. He believes success comes from sticking to the basics: hard work, self-discipline to do the basic things everyday, and consistency to never quit. He encourages his downline to have a vision that looks beyond skin care and health. He wants them to see the big picture of what a Nu Skin Enterprises business can be. "Once you reach your own goals," Buz says, "it is important to pass the baton."

For the Kroners, their business is all about family. They now have the time and financial freedom to do what they want, but more importantly, they are actively involved in the development of their family unit.
