Norm & Joyce Dell
Capturing Momentum

Norm and Joyce Dell love their freedom. They love traveling, golfing, snorkeling, and biking. They especially love spending time with their family members, who are spread out across the United States and Canada.

*FIFTEEN YEARS AGO, THEY JOINED Nu Skin because they recognized the opportunity to create the freedom they wanted. Joyce was a long-time Nu Skin customer who loved the products. She had learned all about the company from her sponsor, and she believed in it. When the Dells decided to move up to Canada, Norm's native country, the Canada market was getting ready to open. Sensing a tremendous opportunity awaiting them, the Dells decided to sign up as distributors and go for it.

Their business quickly grew to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, and into other Asian markets as they opened. Momentum was strong, and their business quickly flourished. Soon, the Dells had built a thriving organization with many strong leaders.

Prior to joining the company, the Dells owned and managed restaurants. They thought they were leveraging their time well -- they would develop one restaurant and then buy another one. But, as time wore on, they realized that this wasn't leverage at all. They would get phone calls all the time; there were always worries and always problems to resolve. Managers would quit, or worse. Once, when they were on vacation, they got a call from a customer informing them that it was almost noon and their restaurant was still not open. After making several more phone calls, the Dells learned that the manager they had hired to run this restaurant had been arrested.

Even though their Nu Skin business requires hard work, Norm and Joyce found that they had real leverage -- and real freedom. When they wanted to work, they worked. But when they wanted to take time off, they could to vacation, to travel, and to spend time with family. And although twelve hour days were common, they found themselves talking to people about health and the products even when they were on vacation. They didn't think of that as work, and they loved to feel like they were helping people.

"You can't put a price on freedom -- being able to work the hours that you want to work, being with your family when you want to be with your family, being able to travel," says Joyce. On vacation, they know theyÂ’ll never be out of touch with their group. However, as Norm says, keeping in touch only takes a few minutes every day.

The Dells maintain customers that they've had for 15 years. Some of those customers still use the original Nu Skin products -- not the newer products, but the original ones. That's product loyalty, according to Joyce. "Once you get a customer," she says,"they're not going to quit the products." Norm and Joyce are Nu Skin product users through and through, but they have been focusing on Pharmanex since the launch of the Scanner. Businesswise, they see the most momentum in Pharmanex, and that's the momentum they want to capture. And they enjoy making a difference in how people think about their health. Their friends and family are already becoming more aware -- reading more books and newspaper articles about healthy lifestyles. Health and nutrition is becoming the Dells' new language.

"There is an element of satisfaction in truly believing you're helping people improve their lives," says Norm. "That's become quite a passion for us. It's very meaningful to us to make a difference in people's lives, healthwise, from our family on down." The Dells do expose all of their Pharmanex representatives to Nu Skin products and encourage them to redirect their spending. They lead with Pharmanex, Norm says, and then back into Nu Skin. "The stories that we get from people that came in with Pharmanex but are nowusing the Nu Skin products as well -- the testimonials are incredible,"says Joyce.

With their goal to create more Blue Diamonds in their organization, the Dells are placing strong faith in the company and its future. They've already been with the company for 15 years, and they have an enormous belief in the company, and an absolute belief in the products. People wonder how they can have so much faith in one company—and so much success. But Norm and Joyce know it's their faith and success that pulls people in. So they continue to work hard, knowing that they are making real freedom possible for themselves, for their families, and for everyone in their team.
