Local Employee Efforts
United Way Day of Caring
Each year Nu Skin Enterprises participates in the United Way Day of Caring. The Day of Caring was established in 1992 to promote the spirit and value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies and schools, and demonstrate what people working together for the community's good can accomplish. Projects include a variety of hands-on work; cleaning, landscaping, and other much-needed activities at local non-profit agencies, schools, parks and homes. In 2009, Nu Skin employees helped clean, renovate and landscape the Alpine House Assisted Living in downtown Provo.
Provo Food and Care Coalition
The Food & Care Coalition serves nutritionally well balanced meals 7 days a week to Utah County's homeless, mentally ill and learning disabled, fixed income families, and families affected by tragedy. In 2008, community members contributed canned goods, garden produce, sack lunches, casseroles, desserts, food from catered events, cash and redeemable grocery store gift certificates, paving the way for the program to serve 101,281 meals to our fellow community members.
This remarkable accomplishment would not be possible unless it had vested community interest. Area businesses, church groups, civic groups, scouts, individuals and families donate nearly 15,000 volunteer hours each year. In addition to preparation, serving, and cleanup duties, volunteers often recruit food donors and make frequent donation pickups. (http://www.foodandcare.org/services/meals.php)
Nu Skin employees are please to contribute to this great community service. Each Wednesday, several employees donate their lunch hour to serve and assist in this cause.
Force for Good Day
Nu Skin corporate headquarters came together for another great Nu Skin Force for Good Day June 9 with more than 200 employees and their family members participating in creating art kits for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Utah County and three local elementary schools in need. The volunteers created 2,500 kits filled with crayons, colored pencils, water colors, scissors and more. Employees are also donating to a fund to purchase larger items for these schools such as a camera, art supplies and chairs for a study room.
The Nu Skin Force for Good Day activities included a special 25th Anniversary Celebration program. Steve, Blake and Truman spoke of Nu Skin's special history and the success the company has experienced. This program included a scholarship presentation to a Utah Valley University international business student, a product donation presentation to the United Way of Utah County and recognition of four Nu Skin corporate employees who have truly demonstrated Nu Skin's Force for Good culture.
The program ended with a message from Utah's soon-to-be governor, Gary Herbert. Herbert spoke of the impressive impact Nu Skin has had on the local economy, citing Nu Skin's quality product, management and employees as reasons for such great success.
