PROVO CITY COUNCIL VOTES TO VACATE 100 WEST, WELCOMING NU SKIN'S MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR DOWNTOWN EXPANSION PROJECT

Nu Skin Announces Architect and General Contractor

PROVO, Utah—March 17, 2010—Provo City Council members voted last night to vacate 100 West between Center Street and 100 South, signaling to Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. to move forward with its downtown expansion project. Nu Skin plans to construct a plaza and atrium linking its corporate headquarters with a new corporate building, thereby bringing about 400 additional employees to the downtown area.

“We appreciate the city council’s decision and look forward to expanding our corporate headquarters in downtown Provo,” said Truman Hunt, Nu Skin president and CEO. “We recognize the great potential of this expansion project and the important role it will play in helping to revitalize downtown, generate economic development and provide additional green space for Provo. Nu Skin has a long-term commitment to the city and its residents and looks forward to joining with community partners in making the city center an even more attractive place to live, work and play.”

Nu Skin also announced that it has retained world renowned architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson to design Nu Skin’s innovation center and plaza. Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has received more than 420 regional, national and international awards for design. The firm has a proven track record of melding modern spaces with historic architecture and previous clients include Apple, Yale University and Pixar Studios.

“This expansion project has great potential to enhance the revitalization of downtown Provo, and we are proud to be a part of Nu Skin’s team,” said Sergei Bischak AIA, senior associate at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. “Creating a vibrant, modern workplace that complements the unique character of the historic downtown and is a source of communal pride is an incredible opportunity.”

Okland Construction, a Utah-based company, will also be working on this project as the general contractor. Previous projects include the Huntsman Corporation headquarters, Utah 2002 Winter Olympics Plaza site work, and the Gateway mall in Salt Lake City. Okland’s experience with Utah-based companies will ensure that the best local talent is focused on the construction project and that the new edifices generate energy and vibrancy for downtown Provo.
