NU SKIN UNVEILS INNOVATION CENTER PLANS
Provo Approves Street Sale for Nu Skin Downtown Expansion Project
PROVO, Utah—Nov. 10, 2010—Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. today unveiled proposed architectural renderings of its new $80 million Innovation Center and announced that the Provo City Council has approved the purchase of one block of 100 West Street.
“We are pleased to be moving forward in our planned development project that will feature a new Innovation Center and expanded downtown campus,” said Truman Hunt, Nu Skin president and chief executive officer. “This is a significant project that will help us foster an innovative environment to support a continual stream of cutting-edge anti-aging products and compelling business opportunities for our distributors.”
The company expects to break ground on the expansion project this spring and anticipates completion by the end of 2013. The proposed plan features an atrium that spans from the existing high rise through the new Innovation Center. Because the company plans to connect the expansion project to its corporate high rise, it was necessary to purchase a section of 100 West Street.
“The openness of the new building design and highly transparent architecture, as well as additional green space, should result in a distinctive landmark for Provo that will integrate well with existing buildings and at the same time help enliven the downtown area,” said Ray Calabro AIA, principal at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and lead architect on the project.
Nu Skin previously announced that it has retained internationally recognized architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson to design the innovation center and plaza. The firm has a proven track record of melding modern spaces with historic architecture. Its clients include Apple, the National Parks Service and Pixar Animation Studios. Okland Construction, a Utah-based company, will also be working on this project as the general contractor. Previous Okland projects include the Huntsman Corporation headquarters, Utah 2002 Winter Olympics Plaza site work, and the Gateway mall in Salt Lake City.
